EDUCATION PILLAR:


Education is a rope that can carry an individual to greatness. It is one of the most important things in life since without education; you one cannot contribute meaning to national development. Good education therefore enables individuals to be intellectually vibrant, socially responsible and emotionally strong. In the financial year 2014/2015 Kibra Constituency Development Office was able to implement the following projects under the education pillar:

Above are the newly built classrooms at Shadrack Kimalel Secondary School. The renovated classes will provided a conducive learning environment to the targeted students leading to improved academic performance and increased students enrollment from 336 to 400.

BURSARIES AND SCHOLARSHIPS :


According to United Nations Human Rights Declaration of 1948, education is a fundamental basic human right. It is therefore the right of every child in Kenya to access quality education. Education is therefore given much priority in Kibra Constituency with its allocation being the highest in the year 2014/2015 budgetary allocations.

In the financial year 2014/2015 Kibra Constituency provided scholarship and bursary opportunities to over 6,000 needy and brilliant students from Kibra while 63 students who scored 350 marks and above benefited from scholarships. The objective of this initiative was informed by the need to promote quality education for improved livelihoods among vulnerable households in Kibra. In Kibra we believe that education is the greatest equalizer in the world, with quality education, one can afford a dignified living standard, better healthcare and generally improved livelihoods. Highly educated individuals not only contribute meaningfully to national development but also contribute competent human resource in the job market.
